Top-of-Canopy NOx Measurements in PROPHET 2016
Project Abstract:
Current models are unable to reproduce observed radical concentrations in forest environments. PROPHET 2016 aims to improve our understanding. Central to this effort will be measurements of hydroxyl (OH) and peroxy (HO2 and RO2) radicals. The measurements of NO and NO2 in the present project are essential to the interpretation of the hydroxyl and peroxy radical measurements, as well as to modeling other aspects of the photochemistry in the forest environment.
Years Active:
2015
Methods:
We will deploy a one-channel chemiluminescence instrument to measure NO and NO2. The instrument will be housed in the lab, and we will sample air from the top of the canopy where the hydroxyl and peroxy measurements are made.
