Abstract

Bioassays with four selected sediments overlain by clean water in aquaria showed a significant range of toxicity. Toxicities of sediment samples did correlate with the concentration of several pollutants, suggesting that the bioassays provided a finer distinction regarding the degree of sediment pollution that was provided by studies of macrobenthos.
