Abstract | The effects of chromium and thermal shock on the survival of Daphnia pulex were studied in vitro. Prior exposure to sublethal amounts of the toxicant appears to have stimulated the organism to elicit some physiological mechanisms to cope with this stress and subsequent heat shock. Survival time in a combination of heat and chemical stress was 30 and 1.3 per cent lower than with heat shock and chemical stress, respectively. |
