Original Final Wetland Inventory datasets downloaded from the Michigan Geographic Data Library for Cheboygan and Emmet Counties. These datasets were merged, linear artifacts along the county border were removed wherever possible, and the area was clipped to the UMBS vicinity.

Metdata provided by MDIT- Center for Geographic Information indicates the aggregated wetlands data set results from a combination of three separate data sets:
- MDNR wetlands derived from 1978 aerial photos
- National Wetlands Inventory(NWI) data set
- Hydric Soils data

The SYM attribute field has the following values:
1 - Hydric Soils only
2 - NWI only
3 - Hydric Soils & NWI
4 - 78 DNR only
5 - Hydric Soils & 78 DNR
6 - NWI & 78 DNR
7 - Hydric Soils & NWI & 78 DNR
