UMBS AmeriFlux Soil Temperature and Moisture 2004-2014

This file contains continuous soil temperature (at 2cm depth) and soil moisture sourced from the University of Michigan Biological Station AmeriFlux Tower site. Soil temperature was recorded in degrees celcius (°C) while soil moisture was recorded volumetrically (θv), representing volume of water per volume of soil. Datasets were sent by Dr. Christoph Vogel at UMBS, and were compiled and scanned for out of range values.

The "UMBS_AmeriFlux_Daily_Soil_Temp_Moisture_2004_2014.csv" file includes soil temperature and soil water content minimums, maximums, means, standard deviations, and variances on a per day basis from January 2004 to December 2014. The "UMBS_AmeriFlux_Monthly_Soil_Temp_Moisture_2004_2014.csv" sheet includes soil temperature and soil water content minimums, maximums, means, standard deviations, and variances for measurements taken within a corresponding month.

All direct raw data measurements were taken as 30 minute means. Soil temperature (2cm) values were averaged between 3 temperature sensors. A problem with soil temperature measurements occurred in early 2008 where all thermocouple measurements were several °C high. Mean soil temperatures from day 1 through day 232 were adjusted by regressing soil temps collected on day 233 - 366 from the BC1 datalogger against the Replicate Plot G8 soil temps. No values were calculated for 2008 monthly soil temperatures.

Soil moisture values were averaged between 3 moisture sensors for years 2004-2008. After 2009, soil moisture was averaged between 2 moisture sensors.
