Fear and safety chemical cue data

Experiment where crayfish were exposed to two different types of odors (predatory odor from bass and alarm odor from detached claws) and allowed to explore an arena with a safety gradient. The safety gradient was constructed by different shelters and a fear gradient was made from different concentrations of the alarm odor.

Time_fear_1_s
  • Label: Time_fear_1_s
  • Definition: The testing arean is divided into a 16 square grid pattern that is 4 x 4. The four squares along the x axis represent increasing volumes of stimuli with 4 being the largest volume and 1 being the smallest volume. This is the fear axis and the variable here represents duration or time spent in this part of the arena (regardless of the y location) in seconds. It is a cumulative total over the whole trial.
