2021 Swimmer Itch Control on Douglas and Black Lakes

Project Abstract:
Our previous work has shown that common mergansers are the dominant vertebrate host for the parasite species that cause swimmer's itch on Douglas and Black Lakes. This project examines the efficacy of a comprehensive common merganser trap-and-relocation program as a swimmer's itch control strategy. The Douglas Lake Improvement Association and the Black Lake Preservation Society are funding this project.
