| Abstract | Potamogeton lateralis is believed to be one of the rarer pondweeds of North America. Evidence is provided indicating that P. lateralis is in fact described from two disparate elements, P. vaseyi and P. pusillus. The morphological characters of P. lateralis fit well within the range of these two species. |
