Abstract | A study and comparison of the developmental stages of the sporelings with those of the regenerants resulting from dedifferentiation and regeneration of individual cells of leaves of adult stems of Ptilidium pulcherrimum have shown that these two young stages are similar. In a general way they follow the Nardia pattern of sporeling development. However, they differ from the Nardia type in that underleaves are formed along with the primary leaves, so tha there are three rows of leaves on the stem from the beginning. Both plants in culture and dried material collected from several natural stations were used. |
