In conclusion, we find that the views of northern Michigan residents regarding the area around them are mixed. Whereas half think there will be no change during the next five years, the other half are split between those who are optimistic and those who are pessimistic about the future. A pessimistic view is most likely to be associated with people who are in northern Michigan seasonally, while people who are optimistic about the future are more likely to live there on a year-round basis.
