Abstract | The research presented in the following five manuscripts concern the parental care and reproductive behavior of the brown bullhead, Ictalurus nebulosus. These studies represent an attempt to understand social behaviors and their evolutionary background. The evolutionary bases for sex differences in behavior, and variations within and between the sexes cannot be understood without a throough understanding of the reproductive natural history of a species. |
