Paul Smith Welch, Professor of Zoology Emeritus, at the U. of Michigan, U.S.A., died unexpectedly October 1, 1959. Death was due to heart failure. His general health had been good during the preceding summer and he had been one of the major speakers on the Program of the Semi-Centennial Celebration of the UMBS on Douglas Lake, June 16-19, 1959. The University, Science, and Society suffered a heavy loss in his passing.
