This booklet is the latest revision of a set of keys originated in 1953 by Dr. Alexander H. Smith. It is intended primarily for students in the courses in "Higher Fungi" and "Advanced Mycology" taught at the Biological Station and on the Ann Arbor campus, respectively, of the U of Michigan. The keys have now passed through several revisions and, although still far from perfect, have proved to be useful in teaching mycology.
