Jervis Webb (13 Oct 97): the Carp Lake history has recently been published. The Van Patten family had bought the whole N shore of Lake Paradise. It was called Lake of the Woods then. They renamed it Carp lake as a deterrent. Later motel owners had it changed to Lake Paradise. Mr. Webb still owns an old log structure at MacDuff Point.
